Idea + method = success is guaranteed

The participation of members of the Development Fund of the city of Nikolaev in the two educational activities improves the quality of work in representing the interests and rights of communities

Two months ago, members of the Development Fund of the city of Nikolayev (FRGN) launched the project «Success Formula advocacy campaigns.» Number of new information, skills and knowledge acquired and accumulated during this time is enormous. Nevertheless, it is important that we do not just study the long experience of civil society organizations, but also inspire ideas of all who work with us.

February 4, 2012 we first came into contact with situational teaching methodology. Together with ten representatives of public organizations of Ukraine — the winners of competition the International Fund «Renaissance» «Self-organization of citizens to solve local problems: accumulation of best practices,» Nikolaev public figures took part in a seminar-training «writing skills training cases.» The event was conducted by the Consortium to improve the management of education in Ukraine CEUME.

This workshop is favorably distinguished from all previous events in which employees had to take part of our Foundation. Skillfully prepared their future students on the eve of the seminar with exiled books, textbooks and homework assignments, organizers of the training thus provided a good work in groups — all participants have arrived prepared. Experienced business coaches Baklan Alexandra and Alexei Vinogradov, with living examples of individual and family joined the situational theory of the method and practical experience «students.»

The basic idea of ​​case-method consists in the fact that, depending on the complexity and measures of influence, situational training technique can give the student not only knowledge and skills, but also form a vital position that creating situational exercises and working on them, each determines for itself does not Only he knows and what he can do, but most importantly — he wants to do. Hence, the main purpose of using this technique — not just a transfer of knowledge, and the solution of the problem. A main goal of the contest consisted in the fact that the leaders of the most successful non-governmental organizations in Ukraine are not simply display information on best practices, and provide the activists of other NGOs such set of baseline data on the management problem, analyzing which they could make good management decisions. This was said at the seminar director of the consortium CEUME Alexander Sidorenko: «The successful experience impossible to duplicate in other circumstances, but on the basis of this experience, his followers will be able to comprehend how the success has been achieved, what factors have contributed, and which prevented it from achieving what resources and how exactly does this have been used. «

Two months FRGN team worked hard on his case: «The formula for success of civil actions.» And the opportunity to not only experience the their situational exercise, but also to see, hear and feel how it is done by real professionals. From 25 March to 6 April this year, I was honored to participate in an international training course on Education for Human Rights, organized by the Canadian Foundation «Equitas.» Then cool in handy not only certified CEUME, but the skills learned during the workshop conducted by the Consortium of Management Education. The ten days of training I was not feeling that I’m in some kind of «reserve» a name which case teaching: situational exercises, and classic and innovative, just permeated the whole process involved training, organized by Roman Koval (Ukrainian Center of consent — Украинский центр согласия) and his team.

The event was attended by representatives from five states, and despite the diversity of cultures and approaches to solving social problems, all participants enthusiastically analyzed the situation and make informed management decisions. Moreover, in the course of training a number of ideas have been implemented in practice. Thus, Andrey Didenko of the Kharkiv Human Rights Group has monitored human rights by local security forces, and members of one of the study groups were examined local hotel for its accessibility for people with disabilities, and have issued their proposals in the form of recommendations of the local administration. Even more interesting ideas born during this educational event, formed the basis for projects of national teams — participants of the training.

Do not stand aside and Development Fund of the city of Nikolayev. Designed with the help of colleagues from Kherson (NGO «New Generation» — Новая генерация), Yerevan (NGO «We are for civil equality» — Мы за гражданское равенство) and Baku (Institute for Media Law — Институт Медиа-права) of the plan obtained during the training knowledge and skills, we begin to implement our plans: site created http://frgn.mk.ua/  heading «Human Rights — Права человека«, which in the foreseeable future will be an interactive platform for the educational programs involved with the situational approach and teaching methods.
